At first glance, Daniel comes off as a cold person. He prefers to keep to himself and so he doesn’t make many attempts to appear as friendly or out-going towards other people. In fact, there are only a handful of people that he actually likes enough to even make regular/friendly conversation with. If he could go without talking to other people at all, that would be fine with him. He’s also rather blunt and to the point. He doesn’t care for beating around the bush at all and certainly isn’t afraid to speak his mind. It is because of this that many people might actually think of him to be rude which, to an extent, he is, so it’s a pretty spot-on assumption.
Danny also isn’t the most trusting of people. From his experience, it seems that everyone ends up letting you down or stabbing you in the back. He tries not to let others get close to him for fear of that happening. He believes that the only one you can count on is yourself and because he can count on himself, he tends to be pretty sure of himself. While he isn’t over-the-top with arrogance, he isn’t the most humble person to set foot on the Earth either; he tends to think pretty highly of himself. He views the world with a sense of dry humor. After all, he has to find some amusement in order to keep himself sane.
With all of this, it isn’t hard to guess that Daniel doesn’t have much of a love life. He’s only had a handful of relationships in his life and none of them have really worked out. He has the occasional fling, but those are done and over with the next morning. He honestly believes the whole concept of love to be quite overrated, especially because of the relationship his own parents had. Still, deep down, he wouldn’t mind being able to fall in love and finally find someone that he could trust and open up to.
Despite all of this, Daniel is a pretty good Auror. He’s determined and focused, giving himself fully to his job. He likes the thrill and excitement that comes with being an Auror. He believes in justice and wants to see all of those who do wrong brought down. Not to mention, he is an aggressive person and actually enjoys getting into fights. He sees it as a pretty good way to vent and get rid of his frustrations, which has gotten him in trouble plenty of times. Deep down though, he is a good guy, he just appears so intimidating that most people don’t take the time to look hard enough.

history: Mary Rogers had always been a bit of a wild child. It was no surprise that, after finishing Hogwarts, she would end up falling in love with a Muggle by the name of Wilson Drake. Wilson made a living by racing cars, though it wasn’t always the legal kind of racing. She was enticed with his life of thrills and danger, while he was drawn in by the mystery that seemed to surround the woman. The two fell in love, however, Wilson was a man who scoffed at the idea of things like magic and Mary could never bring herself to tell him the truth, for fear of how he would react. She made it a point to, for the most part, give up magic completely, for she truly did love Wilson Drake.
However, when they had their first son, Daniel, Mary knew it would only be a matter of time before the truth came out. Daniel was a kid like any other, cheerful, outgoing, and his parents loved him to death. Despite his magical heritage, he really didn’t exhibit any signs of being a wizard, and his mother sincerely hoped that somehow, she had given birth to a squib. When he was four years old, his younger brother, Robert was born. The Drakes were a happy family and, for the most part, life seemed good.
It was both a dream come true and a nightmare, the day Danny received his Hogwarts later. His mother had never spoken of the place, or magic in general, so he was quite confused, but excited to receive it. It was then that his mother felt that she finally needed to reveal the truth about what she was. While Daniel and Robert both thought it was amazing, Wilson didn’t quite feel the same. He was hurt that she had kept the secret for so long, and outraged that his son was destined to follow the same freakish path. He’d always had a bit of a temper, and he absolutely lost it that night. He walked out that night, saying that he wanted nothing to do with the ‘magic crap’ and had no plans of being heard from again.
It was pretty upsetting event for Daniel. It utterly killed the poor boy to have his own father seem to hate him so much and leave. He was slightly upset with his mother as well, for keeping the truth a secret for so long. It made him believe that even the people you think you love and trust the most will eventually betray you, and he was never the same since. He became more serious and reserved, thinking he could get by without anyone else and becoming a bit of a loner in the process.
Still, he was excited to go to Hogwarts. It wasn’t like he wanted to be at home anyways. His mother refused to sink into a depression for the sake of her sons, but really she was never the same once Wilson left. Even his relationship with his younger brother became strained, simply because Daniel became so cold. Hogwarts was the only thing he really had to look forward to, his only ticket to being able to have a life of his own. He was sorted into Gryffindor (for deep down he really was a good and noble guy) and, for the most part, didn’t have an eventful time at Hogwarts. He was focused on his classes and did well in most of them. He had a few friends, but none that he was particularly close to. He seemed to be well-liked among the ladies, but the few relationships he actually had didn’t last-only further proving his point that he couldn’t trust anyone.
It was in his fourth year that he decided that he wanted to be an Auror. He really thought it would be a cool job to have and something that he would be good at. Not to mention, he felt that he should do something worthwhile with his life, and what better way than by throwing dark wizards into Azkaban? Just because his life had to be miserable didn’t mean that others’ needed to be, and he wasn’t about to let a bunch of dark wizards run around and ruin the lives of others. His father was as good as dead, his family broken up…he didn’t wish the same on anyone else.
After graduating from Hogwarts, he was accepted into the Auror training program. It was a little rough at times, but he loved the challenge. He did a pretty good job and it was nice because, aside from his trainer, he was able to mostly work alone. The day he was made into a full Auror was easily the best of his life. While a bit of a loose cannon and ruthless, he could always be counted on to get the job done. The pay was decent and it was good life for a solitary man like Daniel. The only bad part was all the paperwork…which he just hated doing. It required sitting down at a desk and being around annoying people who felt the need to make small talk…and it was just plain annoying. Other than that though, the Auror life was a good one.
As things in the wizarding world started getting bad, he was approached by Harry Potter in regards to joining the Order of the Phoenix. It wasn’t a hard choice for Daniel to make. He could see how bad things were starting to get and he wanted to do whatever he could to help. Being part of the Order was sure to be a great way to be involved in the action and, with his position as an Auror, he was an ideal candidate for the group.
It wasn’t long after that he was recently given his newest assignment-being stationed at Hogwarts and Hogsmeade for security. With times starting to get dangerous, he could understand why they would want Aurors (especially ones that were part of the Order) near Hogwarts. Honestly, he isn’t very thrilled about the job. It seems like boring, rookie work to him. On the bright side, aside from the Hogwarts staff (and occasionally the students) at least he won’t have to deal with people that often. Being alone seems to be a good way to go, in Daniel’s mind. The only one you can count on is yourself.
