Right off the bat, it’s hard not to notice the air of confidence he carries about him. Andrew thinks very highly of himself. He sees himself as a young, good looking Quidditch star in the making and definitely thinks of himself as a gift from God. He is constantly flaunting these things around. Some people, of course, find this cocky attitude to be unbearable and definitely aren’t the biggest fans of Andrew. Andrew, however, could care less. He wants to be the best and believes that, in order to achieve it, he needs to act like he is the best. Andrew also tends to be rather reckless and a bit of a hot-head. He loves adventure and thrills and doesn’t care much about his own safety or the safety of those around him. He rarely ever takes the time to think things through. He is quick to take action, no matter what the situation, and doesn’t concern himself with the consequences. This can be both a good and a bad thing for him. In Quidditch, obviously, it works well for him. He has to be quick to react and there is no time to sit around and think. Trusting instinct is vital. It also is useful in fights and duels and could very well mean the difference between life and death. When it comes to dealing with other people, however, it has gotten him into trouble more than once. He is known to blurt things out, not really caring if they are offensive or not. Speaking of Andrew’s mouth, he tends to be a very witty and sarcastic person. He has quite the sense of humor and enjoys just joking around. Honestly, aside from Quidditch, there isn’t much he takes seriously. He also tends to be quite the charmer when it comes to women. He’s a huge flirt; in fact, flirting with women can probably be considered one of his favorite activities. With all of the constant flirting, it’s no surprise that he doesn’t have many serious relationships. Andrew also has a fiery temper. It doesn’t take much to set him off and, when it happens, he can be rather violent. He doesn’t generally cause harm to other people (unless they really deserve it) but he’ll yell, swear…and throw things. He’s really big on throwing things. It’s best to just let him rage on for a few minutes and then he simmers down and is fine again. Despite being actively involved in Quidditch, Andrew isn’t the best team player. He likes to do things his way and he wants the spotlight all to himself. He would probably be a one man team if he could. He doesn’t like to follow orders and he hates when people tell him what to do. It was sort of a habit he picked up over the years as a way of getting back at his parents for not approving of his dreams. Speaking of which, he tends to hold grudges against people for the longest of times, even if what they did wasn’t that serious. He’s a bit of a jerk, honestly. Despite all of the flaws, Andrew really isn’t that bad of a guy. He’s fun to be around and sticks with his friends to the bitter end. He’s full of determination and ambition. Once he sets his mind to doing something, he will do whatever it takes to accomplish the task. He can even have a bit of a soft spot and care about someone other than himself when the right moment presents himself. He’s just a guy trying to make his way in the world, living every moment to its fullest. He has an uncle and and an aunt from his mother's side and various cousins. familiar: A Tawny Owl by the name of Snitch (yes, he named his owl after the Golden Snitch) that Andrew received when he started his first year of Hogwarts. He mainly uses the owl for delivering letters and leaves Snitch to go about and hunt as he so wishes. history: After the war and all of the loss that came with it, Oliver Wood came to the realization that there was more to life than just Quidditch. While still continuing on his path as a rising Quidditch star, he began to also focus on finding the love of his life. He never would have guessed that this love would be found after taking a bludger to the head in his first Quidditch match after the war. He woke up, staring into the eyes of a young healer: Victorie Forbisher. To this day, he jokes that the bludger must have done something to his head, but it didn’t take long for the Quidditch star to fall in love and get married. Two years after their marriage, Oliver and Victorie welcomed Andrew Carter Wood into the world, on the night of October 16th. He was their firstborn child and was named after Victorie’s father. The family resided in Montrose, Scotland. With both paretns coming from pureblood families (and Oliver bringing in a great income from his career as Puddlemere’s Keeper), the family was fairly wealthy. It was just over a year later that the Andrew was given a baby sister, Addison, someone he would come to find as a close friend. From a young age, Andrew held a love for Quidditch. He was in attendance at Oliver’s matches just a couple of months after birth. With a father like Oliver, who was obsessed with Quidditch, the boy was practically bred to love the sport. By the time he was four years old, he wanted nothing more than to take the skies on his own broom and, one day, be a professional Quidditch player himself. His father was his hero and he wanted to be just like him. He was given his first broom at the age of five and spent many afternoons soaring through the sky, accompanied by Oliver. It quickly became one of his favorite things to do and he exhibited a natural talent in the air. Despite the fact that he was busy with his Quidditch career, Oliver made it a point to spend a lot of time with his son. He had always joked about wanting to have enough kids to form his own Quidditch team. While that seemed to not end up happening, he was determined to raise his kids to love Quidditch just as much as he did. He tried to make sure Andrew was able to come to all of his matches, and would even take Andrew to other team’s matches. He taught his son everything he knew about Quidditch and, though he hoped Andrew would end up being a Keeper like he was, this wasn’t quite the case. Andrew loved playing chaser, and seemed to do pretty good at it. Still, Oliver’s attempts weren’t totally in vain. For the most part, he seemed to have created a mini-Oliver. Even as a child, Andrew was always a bit on the rebellious side. He enjoyed breaking the rules and getting into trouble, much to the agony of his parents. He enjoyed seeking out adventure and pushing his parents’ buttons. Take one time when Andrew’s father was away at practice and his mother was trying to put his sister down for a nap. He wanted to go out and fly on his broom but, considering she was busy, his mother told him he was not allowed to go out and fly. Annoyed, young Andrew went out anyways and ended up flying right over the more Muggle-inhabited part of Montrose. This resulted in the Ministry having to come in and wipe the minds of the several Muggles that spotted him and, of course, Andrew was grounded from his broom for two weeks…which later led to the incident where he ended up getting lost Needless to say, it was a relief to Mr. and Mrs. Wood when Andrew turned eleven and received his Hogwarts letter. Andrew was thrilled to be going to Hogwarts (though it seemed more for the Quidditch and social interaction than anything). It was in Hogwarts that it would soon become evident that, despite being Quidditch-obsessed, Andrew wasn’t very much like Oliver at all. He hoped to be sorted into Gryffindor, the same house his parents had been in. Despite his pureblood status, he didn’t have any desire to be in Slytherin, due to their darker nature. Granted, Andrew was just as arrogant and proud as many Slytherins, but he definitely didn’t think he was as ‘dark’ as many of them seemed to be. He held no interest in the dark arts at all…nor did he really care about the blood status of others. Andrew was not to be disappointed. He was sorted into the Gryffindor house, just like his father. As earlier stated, he didn’t care much about the ‘education’ that Hogwarts offered. The classes like History of Magic, Herbology, Astronomy, Divination, etc. he really didn’t care about and never really strived to do well in those classes. They just didn’t hold any interest for him and his time was better spent catching up on sleep and dreaming about Quidditch and girls. His ‘girls have cooties’ stage didn’t last very long at all and he was always trying to show off and impress the female students (especially the older ones). Then there were the classes like Transfiguration and Potions that he was just plain terrible at. His potions often exploded in his face (though he honestly found this quite hilarious) or had disastrous side effects. He was pretty sure his potions’ professor dreaded every class that had him in it. Transfiguration wasn’t much better. He wasn’t a total failure when it came to learning though. Andrew did just fine in Defense Against the Dark Arts (he had quick reflexes that made him a rather capable duelist) and enjoyed learning the spells that came with the class. It was Charms, however, that was his major forte. It was the one subject that he actually found himself completely interested and tried to do well in. He enjoyed the challenge of trying to master the charms and liked the wide-variety of spells that he could learn. It was a year later that Addison came into Hogwarts, also being sorted into Gryffindor. He was thrilled to have his sister around. Though he claimed she ‘cramped’ his style, the two sibblings were really close. He has always made sure to look out for his sister and help her whenever he could. She seems to be the only one who can knock any sense into his thick head. He has also proved to be quite protective of her, trying to chase off any boys that might look her way as she grew older…much to her annoyance. The most time Andrew seemed to spend in a classroom though was probably for detentions. There were a number of reasons that he always had to land himself in detention. If it wasn’t for wandering the castle (usually to meet with girls from other houses) it was for back talking a teacher or getting in a fight. He’d always had quite the temper on him and even the smallest of insults (usually from Slytherins it seemed) set him off and when it was the Slytherins that were egging him on, he usually decided they deserved to be attacked and, instead of a jinx or a hex, he would literally start punching people in the face. Alexander (who never seemed to become overly exasperated with his younger brother) always did his best to keep Andrew in check but, once he left Hogwarts there was no one to keep Andrew’s temper in check. It took the Headmistress threatening to ban him from Quidditch to get the young wizard to finally pull his act together and control his temper. Quidditch. It was easily Andrew’s favorite part of Hogwarts. He made the Gryffindor team his second year and would spend his remaining years of Hogwarts playing as a chaser. It was the one thing that Andrew could honestly claim to be one of the best at. While his ego would make him not the best of team players, he seemed to be a different person out on the Quidditch pitch. He became serious and focused, determined to beat the other teams. He was at home in the air and became a very skilled chaser. He was determined to make it to the professional League and was willing to do whatever it took to reach that goal. Andrew seemed to barely scrape by in most of his classes. When his 5th year came and it was time for O.W.L.s, he really only managed to scrape up a few of them (though he did receive an O in Charms). It isn’t that Andrew is stupid, more that he doesn’t care if he does well in school or not and, honestly, he doesn’t’ care about half of the subjects anyways. He’s well-known throughout the school, in ways both good and bad, though he likes to think he is generally well-liked among the other students. Now in his final year of Hogwarts, he wants to go out with a bang. He’s determined to make it a memorable year and, of course, win the Qudditch Cup for Gryffindor. After all, it will soon be time for him to leave Hogwarts and try to make his way out into the world of Professional Quidditch. It helps having the ‘Wood’ last name, but he wants his own legacy that’s just as great (if not greater) than his father’s. Of course, it is starting to seem that these plans might be put on hold. With the dark times returning, he’s slowly starting to realize that maybe there are more important things than Quidditch. He doesn’t want another Dark Lord to rise up…and he doesn’t like the sound of the Order of the Silver Dagger either. He believes life was just fine the way it was and exposing magic (or having a repeat of Voldemort) isn’t a good thing. He’s heard the tales of the last war from his parents and, honestly, he is excited by the thought of having an experience like that of his own. He’s determined to join with the Order of the Phoenix and stop the two ‘evils’. Besides, another war would mess with his Quidditch dreams and nothing messes with Quidditch. Not if Andrew has anything to say about it. Still, his loose-cannon, arrogant attitude doesn’t make the Order keen to let him in. Still, if Andrew is anything, it’s determined. Still, he has to finish up school first so, for now, that’s his main focus. [style=background-color: #9ACFE0; width: 485px; height: 10px;] alias: Brekka age: 17 rp experience: Five years.
